Sarah's first day of school

Sarah had a fabulous first day of school. Her teacher's name is Mrs. Pat and she does a great deal with the bilingual teacher next door. We were not allowed to place her in a bilingual room as Spring Branch has a policy that if there are too many bilingual kids, the English ones get bumped. We are thinking that this is maybe a good thing as we will be dealing with hearing aids this year also. So we might want to give her a reprieve from something very very challenging right now. If we do get into Cedar Brook's dual language we will think again.
None of the kids from Bendwood are in her class but that doesn't seem to bother her at all. She plays with them in the a.m. and then walks over to Wild Cat and back with them and then plays in the p.m. with them until I pick her up. She did however come home with a terrible itchy red rash all over her body. We hope it is because of something she ate or the sand she has played in. She has told Russ and I several times that the sand makes her itch and it isn't like ours here at home. I have made her lunch and snack so that she will be able to stay away from the food at school and we shall see how she is tomorrow. The pictures are to share with everyone. Long Day

I haven't written lately as there hasn't been much to say. Today was the day we went to the Center for Speech and Hearing to have Sarah's hearing tested again and see if she need hearing aids right now or not. We found out that she is slightly to moderately deaf in both ears. Her left is worse than her right. She has trouble with certain sounds and some of those are sounds she will need in speech. They did the tests several times so that they can get a consistent reading. If we wait for hearing aids, she could lose some sounds and have trouble later. So she will have to be fitted for hearing aids and will need to be checked every 3-6 months. It was a lot to take in and when you look at her, she is sooooooo perfect that to think she has a hearing problem is wild. So now we will go for a fitting on September 16th and go from there.

Meet the Teacher

Well today was meet the teachers over at Bendwood where Sarah will be before and after school. Every parent with kids in the school first met in the cafeteria and then after Mrs. Stacie talked a little bit, we went to meet Sarah's two teachers. Miss Saly and Miss B. Both of them knew Sarah but I hadn't met them and they never said a word to us. They just handed out a paper about themselves and that was it. I know Sarah will enjoy herself as she was there last year. I also know that it will only be full days there for the 1 week and 2 days. I will post pictures of her teachers later. I just hope that Jared comes to the school also.

Hurricane party

For the hurricane that never was, Sarah had friends over. Issabella and Nini came over to play and have some fun. Their best toy was Russ and he was game for what ever came. The rain fell but the wind never got here. We were glad. Let's hope that was the worst of the storms this year.

What is the saying?

What is the saying? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! If this is true then I should be very strong. Sarah isn't sleeping at night. We began the sticker chart and that worked really well until this past week. She can go for 2 nights all night and then wakes the next. At first I took off all the stickers but the last time just one. I really want her to get a prize but it isn't working out that way. Last night it took 2 trips in and then Russ went in and raised his voice, got her some Dimetap and spoke with her. She seemed to calm down and I had to wake her at 7:50 so that we could get ready for dance class. It took her 30 minutes to get up and moving. After dance, we went to the mall with Isabella, Cassie and Abby and their moms. We played in the castle for awhile and then had lunch. On the way home, Sarah fell asleep and I let her sleep for 45 minutes. I am hoping she is in a better mood this afternoon. Tomorrow her husband Jared is coming over to play. I am sure she will have a blast.
