Halloween

Boy have we been busy. We started off the holiday with a trunk or treat at Manna's Church on the 26th of October. A trunk or treat is where people open their trunks, decorate them and give out candy. It was our first trunk or treat. Sarah dressed as a pirate so that she could have a hook and sword. She said her name was Captain Hook/Captain Sword. She even did the ARRRH!! She was so cute. Russ told her a joke to tell everyone and she said it to whomever we could get to. The joke was: How much do candy corn cost? A Buccaneer. Get it??? Sarah loved getting the candy but also loved handing it out to the others that were trick or treating.
On Friday, she had her parade at school and then a parade and carnival at Bendwood. Russ, Manna and I were there to watch the parade and then have fun at the carnival. Sarah bobbed for apples, bowled for a kazoo and many other things. She liked the cotton candy and snow cones the best. That night we went to the Fourier's for Dinner and then went to their Church for carnival. There we played games for candy and rode on a hay ride. It was lots of fun. We also had cotton candy. After we went back to the Fourier's and went to the houses on their street where they know the people. Sarah loved going to the doors and saying "trick or treat" the best part was getting more candy then she knows what to do with. We came home and we all passed out. It was a great time!!!

Sarah at Little Gym and more

I have a picture of Sarah that I would love to have posted but our school computers won't let me do it any more. I will have to post from home. So there is a picture of Sarah at Little Gym on the bars in gymnastics coming soon. She was wearing her new hearing aids and having the time of her life. My friend Ahri took the photos. Her daughter is also in the class.
Sarah has taken to her hearing aids quite well and yesterday we went to see the ENT and she can hear very well with the aids in her ears. We are quite pleased with the results. In the afternoon, we had a meeting at her school and they do not feel she needs to be in special education but are going to help her through H.B. 504. This will help get the FM receiver for her teacher to wear and help Sarah hear the teacher no matter where in the class she is. It has been a nerve racking time at out house over this and then Sunday night, Russ cut his finger with the new Cutco knives we have and had to have 6 stitches. We were in the emergency room for 6 hours. It was a very long evening.

Sarah's New Hearing Aid

Thanks to Mrs. Pippa and Sydney for taking this picture of Sarah with her new hearing aids. She seems to love them. She was very quick to show them off to her dance teachers and Mrs. Pippa and Sydney and Elise. I hope she stays this excited about them always. She did tell me she can hear good with them. At the end of the evening, when she took them out, she said "now i hear normal" I tried to explain how with the hearing aids was normal and without was not normal. I am not sure she understands. Let's see how it goes in the morning.

Rough day

Today was the day that Sarah got her hearing aids. We went to our appointment at 2:00 and by 2:15 they were in her ears and she was hearing better. We had to sit and listen to how to clean them, change the batteries, how to store the the evenings and how to clean them. They are dark gray and the plugs are light gray, white and pink. She seems to like them. She hasn't begun to play with them and she doesn't touch them a great deal. She actually told Russ and I that she was hearing a sound in the van that was too loud. It was the ground noise that we always hear. She didn't like it. We told her how her hearing aids are helping her hear better and louder. She seemed to be OK with that. I have pictures but they are in the camera and I am not sure how to get them out.
