Pumpkin Carving 2010

Pumpkin carving was a lot of fun last night. We went to the Fournier's house with the Gees, Aguilars and Mrs. Kaufman ( Claire's first grade teacher). First we carved our pumpkins. Sarah and Russ designed it and Sarah did most of the cutting of the pumpkin. I think most of the men did most of the carving as most of the girls got bored and went off to play. Micah had a great time just crawling around and getting into everything. We had dinner, bubbles and a started a new tradition of bobbing for donuts. First the girls did it and then one parent got to do it. We had a wonderful time!

Mommy's birthday weekend

This weekend was my birthday and we took the girls to the Texas State Fair in Dallas. I think it has been about 11 years since I went the last time. Sarah wanted to do every ride and eat quite a few different things. She was too small for some of the rides but took it all in stride and went to the next ride that she could do. Micah was also a trooper. While Russ took Sarah on the Ferris wheel I let Micah crawl around on the floor and get very dirty. Russ tried the fried beer and it was horrible. We then had a sweet roll, a foot long hot dog, tornado taters and ice cream. We forgot to have the famous corn dog! Sarah did the bungee jumping from the trampoline and at one point the man took her and pulled her way down on the trampoline and then let her go. The fear in her eyes was huge but Russ and I made sure she knew she was ok and then she began to like it a little more. We met Jill and Kameron at the Fair and Jill's niece Hilary was with them. Hilary and Sarah went down the slide twice. Sarah was happy to have a friend that would go on the rides. Russ usually had to go with her. She also won some stuffed animals by shooting darts at balloons. The carney men helped her to win and she had fun.
That evening we met up with Russ's brother Vernon and his family, Dana, Slater and Cooper. Sarah didn't let Cooper say a word. She loved telling him all about her Lego's and more. IT was nice to meet the buys and see his brother. It has been about 2 years since we have seen them We also introduced Micah to them.

Micah's first visit to the pumpkin patch

We took Micah and Sarah and met the Fourniers at the pumpkin patch. Micah was a little cranky and didn't like the feel of all the pumpkins. We got some good pictures of the girls. Abby found the largest pumpkin and tried to roll it home with her. When we found out how much it would be, we decided to leave it in the patch. Sarah wanted to take home the weirdest looking gourds and Micah wanted nothing to so with any of them.

Elvis has come back to life

The daycare started it, by placing her hair in a fountain, which I love. SO at night we take the rubber band out, brush the hair and this is what it looks like in the morning. She is the cutest!!!

Maxx went to heaven

Yesterday was a horrible day when Russ and I took Maxx to the vet and had to put him to sleep. He declined very quickly. HE couldn't walk very well, was blind and deaf and had stopped eating. He would wet on himself as he couldn't get up to potty. His head was at an angle and his eyes were twitching. The vet told us he might have a brain tumor but we would have to do a great deal of tests to find out and it wouldn't prolong his life. Russ and I were with him. HE was given a sedative and then the injection that let him go to sleep. It was a very quick process and he was calm until the end. He was my pet/friend for almost 16 years and I will miss him greatly! Here is a picture of Maxx watching Sarah ride her bike for the first time.

This weekend

This has been a great weekend. I went to a training on Saturday and Russ had the girls all day. They went to Sarah's swim lesson and then met me for lunch. They went home for nap and play while I finished the training. In the evening, Manna stayed with Micah while Russ, Sarah and I went to Miller Outdoor Theater to see the Asian dancers. We met up with the Fourniers, Norris' and Gyillings for a picnic dinner and fun. The girls blew bubbles, rolled down the hill and played Apples to Apples junior version all while waiting for the performance to start. The dancers were good and the weather was better so it was a great night.
On Sunday, we got up and went to church, which we haven't done in over a month. After church, we came home had lunch and Micah went down for a nap. When she got up, we took her to Academy to buy her first bike helmet. She wasn't to happy about it but she did let us buy it.
We drove to the park and all got on her bikes and rode around the park twice before we went to play on the playground. Micah rode on Russ's bike with him. She held her helmet and smiled the whole time around the park. Micah and I played in the mulch while Sarah and Dad played on the equipment. Sarah loved riding her bike around the park and I thought it was fun also. Next time I promise to have a camera with us so that I can record Micah on her bike.
